Afifi is an experienced Offshore And Subsea Engineer with a degree in Civil Engineering from the Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS in Malaysia. He has extensive expertise in engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning (EPCIC) projects related to offshore platforms, pipelines, subsea umbilical and cables, moorings, and underwater inspection and seabed survey.

As a site engineer, he worked on a wide range of projects, including residential and commercial projects and port and terminal construction provision of site infrastructure. Afifi then moved to the Oil & Gas industry, where he gained further experience in the roles of field engineer, lead engineer, and company representative. In these roles, Afifi was responsible for managing the full cycle of offshore projects, from design and fabrication to installation and commissioning. As an offshore and subsea engineer, Afifi has a wide range of experience in the installation of offshore structures and equipment, including tripods, jackets, flare booms, bridges, processing modules, accommodation modules, power generation modules, pipelines, umbilical, power cables, risers, mooring chains, and FPSOs.

Afifi has served as an Expert Witness and given oral evidence in Arbitration and High Court cases in Malaysia and Indonesia. He has also investigated and provided technical advice on a wide range of issues, including damage to pipelines, risers, and flexible risers, as well as opinions on vessel anchor drags and crude oil leaks from pipelines? Fixed installations?, onshore crude oil plants, seabed surveys, air diving, saturation diving, and ROV operations, as well as personal injury cases.
