Dr. Mowatt is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the Royal Institute of Naval Architects (R.I.N.A.), working as an independent consultant with SteegeXP.

 With a degree in Naval Architecture and a PhD awarded for his thesis on ’The Strength of Ship Structural Elements’, George’s extensive global experience covers both ship and offshore structures, design, construction, and installation.

With a career spanning some 55 Years in Ship and Offshore Platform Design and Construction, he has led major Offshore North Sea Project EPIC teams as Project Manager and Project Director, followed by appointments as Operations Director and Managing Director of various EPCI Companies.

Commencing in 2005, George has undertaken many Expert Witness appointments addressing Lloyds’ Open Form (LOF) Salvage claims, groundings and stability issues, hurricane damage, structural failures, offshore platform design, construction and operation disputes.

He has given expert evidence at the London Court of Arbitration and Mediation and also at the Danish Maritime and Commercial Court.
